Definition of AWKWARD: heartbroken Maksim Chmerkovskiy forced to perform in an extremely sexually charged dance routine with his ex-fiancee ... just days after Karina Smirnoff broke his heart.
We're guessing they agreed to perform their steamy Emmy number before they called off their engagement -- 'cause the amount of touching, thrusting and inner-thigh grabbing Maksim had to pull off with his ex ... could only have made him even sadder....

We stopped Mark Wahlberg on his way to the Emmys -- in the middle of traffic, no less -- to talk a little smack about the NY Jets beating his beloved New England Patriots.
Losing was the theme of the day for Mark -- "Entourage" lost out to "30 Rock" for best comedy.

After a personal introduction from Madonna herself, a fully-clothed Janet Jackson took the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards to honor her late brother Michael.
In a routine reminiscent of Natalie Cole, Janet performed her part of the song "Scream" while a music video of Michael doing his part played in the background.

It sure wasn't "nothing but a good time" at the Tony Awards for Bret Michaels last night -- because after performing in the opening number, dude ran smack into a falling set piece and landed flat on his ass.
A spokesperson for the Tonys tells the AP Michaels just "missed his mark" but wouldn't comment on any injuries except to say his nose wasn't broken.

What's the difference between the MTV Movie Awards and a high school cafeteria at lunchtime? Nothing.
The producers of the show had an insane time managing all the various egos and cliques while trying to make the seating chart for the show. For example, says the NY Post, Whitney Port once dissed "Twilight" and its star Kristen Stewart by saying the movie was "really bad" and Stewart was "one-dimensional" -- which means Stewart has one more dimension than Port.
Other alleged feuds include everyone on "The Hills" vs. Audrina Patridge, everyone on "The Hills" vs. Paris Hilton, and the Disney stars (Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, etc.) vs. the Nickelodeon stars (Miranda Cosgrove and Keke Palmer).
None of these feuds have the juice of a Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie/Jennfier Aniston reunion, but a good bitch fight is always fun.
