8. The syudents are "stupid"?! WTF?! No, they're not stupid by any means. They're smart kids being creative, making a freakin' movie. What the hell can they be charged with merely for having a toy gun?! If it's illegal to carry a plastic toy gun in public, then the five million NYPD cops who wasted their time arresting these kids should round up every five-year-old within a 500-foot radius!

Kate Hudson is a one-note, no-talent "celebrity" who's only in movies because Mom blew some influential movie people in the '60s. And if sHudson didn't live in the building, none of this would have happened to these students.

9. What is wrong with you people? This is a GUN...IN A SCHOOL DISTRICT...with a rash of school shootings on both High School and College campuses. It doesn't matter WHO lives there. They're lucky they didn't get shot either by the police or the residents of the building. For God's sake, people, this was an irresponsible, dangerous, STUPID thing to do.

12. In L.A. they would just get arrested for not having a filming permit. If they were NYU film students they should know better. You always have to let the authorities know if you're going to be waving a prop gun in public. They're usually pretty cool about it in small towns if you give them a heads up.

It doesn't matter if it's a real gun or a fake gun - if the police see someone waving a gun around, they're not going to say, "now, hold on a sec...what are the odds that gun is fake?" They're going to pull their own pieces out and scream at you to drop your weapon, take you into custody, and figure out what the hell you were trying to do. Plenty of people robbing liquor stores use fake guns just to intimidate clerks...but plenty of them use real ones too. Who wants to wait around to find out which is which?

EVERYBODY lives in a school district!!! And why the instant guilty verdict? WHAT exactly did they do wrong? Cops should have verified if it was indeed a prop gun and left them alone!!

15. God, the ignorance of some of you astounds me. "GS" is right; if you use a toy gun to rob anyone, it's still ARMED ROBBERY. And I'm not "instantly assuming" they're guilty. But they damned sure need to be arrested and taken off the streets and charged with brandishing a weapon and hire lawyers and spend money they haven't yet earned so WE can spend money on Prosecutors and Public Defenders and whomever else is needed to protect their rights.

The ignorance just astounds me.
