Angry Viewers Demand Gay Love

There's plenty of making out happening on "As the World Turns," but fictional boyfriends Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer are getting very little action. The couple hasn't kissed on screen since September!

It seems as if viewers are not pleased, according to the LA Times. They've started a letter writing campaign demanding the show give the couple some steamy scenes.

Included in the campaign for action is a countdown clock tracking the hours since the couple's last kiss and an online petition.

33. OoooNooo!
All My Children has had a lesbian love story for several years now. I stopped watching soaps several years ago because I found I was getting compulsive about them but the whole point of soap operas is to dramatically exaggerate real life. Gay men exist, abortion exists, lesbians exist, drug addiction exists, adultery exists, children born to teenage mothers exist, etc. Live with it. And better your child see it where he can ask you questions about what's happening than be ignorant and get hurt because he didn't know it existed.
As far as the people who always say "but what does this matter when you think of all the horrible things that are happening in the world today." Thinking and even talking about these things takes very little of my time. I can still do my recycling, donate to charity, help mentor children, write to my congressmen and donate platelets once a week. And I can do several of them without leaving my computer. If you don't like the way the world is going, don't complain here. Do something.

39. Its ridiculous when they have to start airing homosexuality. Just like they say i can turn the channel, well if you want to see the smut you change the channel to an xxx gay porn channel, if I am paying for my cable I should get the channels I want without having to explain to my children why a man is kissing another man. The more this gets exepted the more other immoral actions get excepted and before you know it our world is nothing but more sin and more disgusting people who shouldn't breed.

40. i love how all the sqeamish bigots go str8 to idiotic slogans to support their ignorance...'adam and steve'.. gimme a frickin' break. the soaps have been very steamy in their portrayal of romantic relations for years now. the issue here is the double standard for gay characters. i'll give the soaps props for finally including representations of the lives of a significant portion of the population, but it's pretty silly to then shy away from simple displays of affection between gay characters. "little timmy" has a one-in-ten chance of being gay himself and would particularly benefit from seeing positive portrayals of other people who are like him.. and his str8 friends would also benefit from exposure to humans who love each other rather than the kind of hateful tripe they hear from the bigots around them.

42. It shouldn't be a problem to present the couple more intimatly on the show. It is all a question of Taste. Any relationship scene needs to be done in good taste. Too steamy, and i'll change the station immediatlye, whether it is hetro or gay.
Super steamy porn of all kinds can be found everywhere, it shouldn't be on day time tv. Whether you like it or not, daytime tv viewers are of a vaastly greater demographic than only gay people. It does encompass, seniors, children, many different cultures and religions that would be offended by this. Let the network build on there characters story line as they see fit, you may end up liking what they do.

43. I watch ATWT and the show is a really well acted one. This Storyline is one where the one boy has just found out about 4 months ago that he IS in fact Gay, the have been going though a number of Family probllems NOT do ti the Gay factor but emotionally stressfull including hte one boy JUST getting over being paralyzed (its a soap)..lol So I wouldnt exactly PUSH for a sex scence. I KNOW the Storyline....and the characters.....and they are , I would say going along slowly as they should for the place htey are in the relationship and surrounding situations...

44. Why are you people watching this twisted horssh*t anyway?

Posted at 1:03AM on Mar 4th 2008 by Bozo's Balls

45. Is it really viewers in general or is it more like gay and lesbian organizations drawing attention to it for their own agenda? I really don't think that normal viewers care or keep track when the last kiss took place. Certain organizations look for things like this to make it appear as if there is "anti " anything
