Pet Seller in Chyna's Doghouse

ChynaA word of advice from Chyna: "Don't buy your dog on the Internet!"

The wresting reality star tells TMZ that last April, she paid $4,000 to a web-based Chihuahua co-op in Phoenix, hoping to find a tiny companion for her two pups, Honeysuckle Honeybunny and Bambi Roo. But by November, no four-legged friend arrived.

So rather than go all Ellen DeGeneres on the folks at ArizonaPups.com, she took her gripe to Christina's Court -- and won! The episode airs November 19.

Now Catherine Knell, owner of the site -- which does not permit buyers to pick up dogs in person or inspect them before paying -- is pissed.

In an e-mail to TMZ, Knell says: "We have sold several other puppies to Chynna [sic] with no problem. Her most recent order was cancelled after our cobreeder wanted more for the puppy once he found out it was going to Chynna. Because we're a coop, each Breeder has an individual responsibility to provide delivery of their pups. Another problem arose when we found out that one or more of the pups previously shipped to her had died after escaping into the street. As Breeders and animal lovers, we are always concerned about alleged cases of animal negligence or abuse. We agreed to appear with her on Christina's Court to resolve this issue and believed that Chynna was a friend. That court episode turned out to be an ode to Chynna with video clips and photos from her various ventures shown during the kangaroo courtroom happening. We quickly found out that Christina merely wanted to turn the event into a lovefest for Chynna and had no intention of giving us a fair hearing. I guess she hoped that Chynna would boost her ratings (good luck on that). Judging from her lack of concern for us or the pets involved, the only thing Christina should be judging is Michael Vick dog fighting contests." Ouch!

Though Knell can't properly spell Chyna's name, her website continues to use the star's unauthorized "endorsement" to promote their business.

16. That's why you go to responsible/reputable breeders OR shelters/rescues to save a life.

17. I would never buy a live animal through the internet. How would they ship it? I once bought a big punch bowel from Ebay and it arrived upside down and broken. I cannot imagine putting an animal through that. They would be terrified. Why doesn't she just go to the mall and buy her dogs like the rest of us.

18. Chyna paid $4K for a dog that she never got and this idiot breeder is saying she didn't get fair treatment in court? Why wouldn't Chyna get her $4K back?

20. I think its sad that there are thousands of dogs looking for homes in shelters but famous people would rather spend $4,000 for a specific breed. It just makes no sense to me.

22. BTW, her first clue should have been: "does not permit buyers to pick up dogs in person or inspect them before buying".

24. My mother runs a daschund rescue shelter, so many of her dogs come from breeders; also from owners who have lost interest. Animals are not disposable commodities to be purchased online, toted around under some celeb's arm like a cheap handbag and then tossed away like an old pair of tube socks. The anonymity this online “co-op” provides between the breeder and the potential adopter, only assists in the propagation and secrecy of “Puppy-Mills”. People should adopt pets from animal shelters, rescues or if they must, from reputable breeders. All of which they have inspect first hand.

25. isn't $4000.00 a bit much for a dog? I'd say somebody is greedy and somebody else is stupid.

This is why so called "breeders" are nothing short of puppy mills. Besides, what person in thier right mind would buy a dog they could not meet/inspect first?

Hey Chyna, adopt a dog from a rescue or shelter you ugly skank.

Posted at 2:06PM on Nov 8th 2007 by yeah, yeah, right

26. There are chi rescues all over the country. She should ADOPT next time instead of buying from this breeder. The fact that people can't go pick up the pups or meet/inspect the pups before getting them is crazy. At our local co-op (for locally grown/made food) you can certainly inspect the food and go buy it at the store yourself! To have a "co-op" for a living creature is ridiculous. This woman is nothing more than a middleperson in the selling of animals. And who's to say the breeders aren't just back yard breeders giving her a cut of their fees?
Adopt your next pet, and make sure it is spayed or neutered before it adds to the pet overpopulation problem in this country.

28. That’s what you get for buying a dog online Chyna!

Spend a day at the local animal shelter, and then see if you are able to buy a dog online.

The part in the breeder’s letter, where she says that she is an animal lover and is concerned about alleged animal abuse at Chyna’s home, is a lie. Breeders are not animal lovers. They will sell their merchandise to the highest bidder, just like any other business person. The breeder had to say something to make herself look good, after she was caught scamming Chyna for more money.

Tsk Tsk Chyna, DON’T BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE!

29. Stop paying outrageous prices for puppy mill dogs!! It's crazy. Lots of loving cats and dogs in shelters and being cared for by rescue organizations. That's the only way to go!!

30. Dogs, as companion animals, should be viewed personally, not bought "mail order." And, any dog breeder who bases his price for a puppy on the celebrity of the owner is close to being merely a puppy mill ... since Chihuahuas seem to be the new "arm candy du jour" the breeder and that coop will probably dump the dogs they currently have and go for the new fad dog.
