Train Wrecks
Bad Sushi Night -- Brad Garrett Attacks

Things got downright racial last night in Malibu, when a paparazzo taunted Brad Garrett, calling him racist to his face. Garrett then took out his anger on the wrong guy, bitchslapping a TMZ photog.

It happened outside Nobu restaurant around 11:30 PM, after a photog from the FAME photo agency questioned the "Everybody Loves Raymond" star about a joke he made about black people earlier in the week. According to several witnesses and FAME, last month Brad noticed a black photog taking his picture, and in Kramer-esque fashion quipped, "I didn't know there were black people in Malibu. Go back to where you came from."

Fast forward to last night, where the 6'8" behemoth reached his boiling point when the same black photog questioned him about the alleged comment. The photog told Garrett that there were "more black people here this time," to which the actor replied, "Yeah, I know ... when did they let you out?" Furious at the comment, photog told Garrett, "You're racist. You should be ashamed on [sic] yourself."

Obviously frustrated, Garrett then lost his cool completely. Instead of reacting to the snapper making the comments, Garrett approached TMZ's cameraman and unleashed his right hand, smashing the camera into the photog's face.

Calls to Garrett's reps were not immediately returned.

213. "Everybody love Raymond" only got ratings because old people didn't want to get up or didn't know how to change the channel. As a so called "professional" actor, he should be aware of how his comments can affect his career. He's annoying to say the least. Maybe if he goes to rehab, it can help. *rolls eyes*

214. I think everybody has some form of racist in us. some of us let it be known, and others don't.

215. it's nice to know that the nose-picking idiots from hs who couldn't get a girl to speak to them (or get the pee smell out of their clothes) can find a way to make money. i doubt any comment to such vermin actually makes you racist...even if you are the biggest ass on the planet.

218. Okay listen to someone who actually KNOWS Brad. I have known the guy for years and he's a good friend of mine. If he's a racist, then he has a really funny way of showing it. He just finished doing a charity poker tournament for "Ante for Africa", he has Anthony Anderson on his show all the time, he opened for Sammy Davis Jr., he has a Margaret Cho on his show (Korean, granted, but still another race) and he had an openly gay actor guest star on his show. (not racist, but still considered a minority.) If people had any kind of idea who Brad Garrett really is, what kind of person he is, you would all be behind him 100%. He is not typical of Hollywood at all. He has a nice house, but not a mansion by any means. He's a family guy who just adores his kids to death (and they were with him at Disney in April, which is why he tried to shy away from the public at that particular time.) He does more charity work than he does anything else. If you don't believe me, go to wireimage.com and look at how many of the photos of him are taken while he is at a charity event. He is hands down the nicest, most generous, kind, loving, sweetest guy I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. As far as the paparazzi is concerned, first of all, he didn't hit anyone. He hit the camera. Notice how the cameraman was so injured and so frightened, that he shoved his camera right back in Brad's face and continued to chase after him. The black cameraman doesn't know his a** from his elbow calling Brad a racist. He should be the one "ashamed on himself". I've seen Brad's comedy act several times, and that's all it is, is an ACT!! He makes fun of all races and religions, including his own. And he's also the funniest thing to happen to television in years. Keep going pal, I'm behind you all the way. You don't owe anybody anything!!

221. It was obvious he was joking about the racist stuff but the TMZ guys stuck the camera in his face and continued to harass and provoke him.

222. I think it's about tiime the pap's get out of everyone's faces when celebrities are just out to have a good time. OUT FOR SUPPER, TO A MOVIE, OR A CLUB, SOME FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT FOR THEMSELVES NOT TO ENTERTAIN THE PUBLIC! AT THESE TIMES THEY SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE BY THE PHOTOGRAPHERS.!!! Let them have a personal life of their own. Back the h**l off!

Would the pap's want someone in their face making comments to them and flashes going off a mile a minute? I say good for Brad. And he didn't hit the guy in the face or we would have heard him yell on the tape THE PHOTOGRAPHER ISN'T TELLING THE TRUTH!!!.

AND FOR THAT HE SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES AT ALL!!!!

223. first Michael Richards, now Brad
Garrett. Is there something about being on a cancelled sitcom that makes these guys so bitter? Heck, they still have money....and they're still getting preferential treatment. I'll bet if a 6ft8in minority man had assaulted somebody he'd be in jail in seconds.

224. Well, Well, I guess I will give my 2 cents...LOL I dont think there is anything wrong with any form of press as long as its done respectfully. although, I i disagree with my wife in regards to his show, (anytime they want to take it off the air and replace it with sinfield is good with me) I do not diagree with his actions. If you want to take pictures of a actor that is all fine, BUT, to get so close that you can smell his breathe is open door. Not only did they mock him (if that is the correct term here) but they entered his space of comfort. Although an actor who should have better self control, you can only take so much. Not only did he have to deal with how close they were to him, but he had to deal with the mocking as well. I for one probably would have done the same thing.

225. This is why there should be laws about camera men, there should not be allowed more than 4 gathered at a time, or they should all be arrested.. LOL..
