Scary Spice's Kid -- Officially Named a Murphy

Eddie Murphy doesn't believe he's the father, but Scary Spice Melanie Brown gave her baby daughter the name "Murphy" anyway.

TMZ has obtained an official copy of a birth certificate for Mel B's daughter Iris-Angel Murphy Brown, born April 3 in Santa Monica, Calif., months after the former Spice Girl and the comedian split. Interestingly, the section that lists the child's father has been left blank.

Cameras caught Eddie at a Beverly Hills doctor's office Monday where he was reportedly undergoing a paternity test. The "Dreamgirls" star told Dutch TV in December that any assumption that Eddie was the little girl's dad was "presumptuous," adding "I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test."

A rep for Murphy refused to comment on the actor's personal life.

61. Rough spot for Eddie. He obviously knows Melanie Brown better than we do...what if he knows her to really get around...he'd be a damn fool to do anything as far as acknowledment of paternity.

But again I don't know her, and of course it's just impossible that a spice girl could be guilty of slut'n it up.

67. Eddie needs to stand up for whats right be a man about his, He knew that was his child. He goin have to use some of that money to pay child support, thats sad when a female has a baby and the daddy bails, its so hard to be a single parent. He knew he slept wit her so why couldn't it be his baby?

68. The man did not say it's not his child! He's getting a paternity test done and we'll all find out soon enough. He also said if it was, he'd support it, and I'm sure scary will make sure of that.

She's just a golddicker..oops I mean digger. :)

69. Hey # 22 I forgot Eddie was caught with a transvestite (sp) a few years ago. They were in his car and he had an accident (or something like that). Anyway , as far as him believing the child is not his , he should had kept that private while he was getting the DNA test on the child. He is as about as bad as that A$$ who said Liz Hurley's baby wasn't his. She and DNA proved him wrong!!!Good luck Mel.

70. I thought you were going to have the actual results of the paternity test that they supposedly took yesterday. By the way, by law of the State of California, if the father of the child is not present to establish paternity in the hospital and is not present to sign the birth certificate, then the father name field must be left blank. Its not like the old days when you could put any Joe as the father!

72. She seems pretty sure and probably wouldn't be demanding the test if she knew she had not slept with anyone but him. She seems like a nice girl on the pictures I see of her. However, all of these public hysterics about Eddie to admit he is the dad of the child is really something.

These are brave women to start off a family without a husband.

I know it is old fashion, but it is one thing to be married and have a child, then end up without a husband either through divorce, death or whatever; and it is quite another to get pregnant while seeing a guy on a flimsy relationship and make a life altering decision for both the man and woman to have a baby and expect the other party to go along with it when only fun and games were the order of the day at the time.

Money will help to ease the pain of her ego being bashed about.

If Eddie had no money, I wonder if the case would be in the news like this. Too bad it wound up this way.
