Elliot Mintz No Longer on Paris Patrol

Just two days after a judge sentenced her to 45 days in jail for violating her probation, Paris Hilton's longtime publicist Elliot Mintz has announced he is no longer representing the heiress. In court Friday, Paris claimed that it was Elliot who had mistakenly assured her she was able to drive, even though she had a suspended license. The judge, however, didn't buy her claim, and sent her to the slammer.

TMZ contacted Mintz Sunday evening, who issued the following statement:

The day after the hearing, I sent an e-mail expressing my sadness over the ruling of the judge and the irrational sentence he imposed. In that e-mail I also offered my sincerest apology for any misunderstanding she received from me regarding the terms of her probation. To the extent that I have miscommunicated information I received from her attorneys......I am deeply and profoundly sorry. I told her that I assume personal responsibility for my part in this matter. I believe when stated in court that she believed it was o.k. for her to drive under certain circumstances she was being absolutely truthful. Due to this misunderstanding, I am no longer representing Paris. For the record, I have nothing but love and respect for Paris and her family. Paris is a wonderful person and does not deserve the punishment that was handed down by the court. I only wish her my best.

91. His letter is silly. At the end of the day, Paris Hilton was 110% responsible for having full knowledge of her driving priviliges. Yet again, she's placing blame of her problems onto someone else. Too bad for her that no one can sit in her jail cell for her too!

92. Let's not forget that, bottom line, Paris was driving around at 11:00pm without her headlights on and therefore endangering the public...and that itself is breaking the law. That is why she was pulled over, apparently the 2nd time since her DUI that she was pulled over for breaking the law. So what if she didn't know her license was still suspended, she should at least be following the law when driving, and regarding the safety of others. In shopping, if you break it, you bought it. In the law, if you break it, you also buy it...it being a little time in the slammer. Her family can cry injustice all they want, maybe they should sit her down and tell her to act responsibly, and then she wouldn't get into these fixes.

96. This is the most transparent ploy imaginable to make it look like he was at fault and not Paris.

What a MORON those two parents made.....X 2, her sister is a mental midget herself........This man should be breathing a sigh of relief that he no longer has to Baby sit and Lie CONSTANTLY....No more "wiping" the bottoms of the rich, LOSER Hilton's!!!! 98. I guess Mr Mintz also took her Drivers License Test especially the portion that dealt with Penalties. How can you go thru life in a "Bubble"? I guess she is the "Bubble-Headed" Bleached Blonde. All that money but No common sense. What a shame.

99. Even if Paris is telling the truth (sure) and she thought she was allowed to drive for "work related reasons" how is going to Blockbuster (where she was pulled over after leaving the parking lot) a "work related reason"?

She's guilty no matter HOW you look at it. The people who are defending her must have entered the gene pool when the lifeguard wasn't looking.

100. If we were to believe what Miss Hilton told the court about not knowing what it means to have a SUSPENDED license, I would have thought that the court would have canceled her license and send her back to learning school. Because, it seems that she did not take the test to get her license, but actually BOUGHT it. This is VERY possible. Not knowing what a suspended license is means you are not worthy to hold a license.

PARIS, take my advice and go back to driving school.

101. What a whiny baby pee pants. If I had done the things Paris Hilton has done, I would have gotten a year for the first offense.
Her mother called the prosecutor, pathetic, both her and her daughter are the pathetic ones.
I am so sick of Paris Hilton and all of her drama.

103. Isnt it funny, that AFTER she was made WELL aware that she was not supposed to be driving, we see her, the DAY BEFORE COURT, on video....um...DRIVING???? and yet she claims shes a victim. I am SURE that the day before court, she knew she couldn't drive, and yet, here we see yet ANOTHER video of her behind the wheel. Regardless of what she knew, or didnt know at the time of her 2nd bust, she knew AFTER that, and continued to drive. So she didnt get caught by the police, but she STILL broke the law!!!
You break the law, you go to jail...
PERIOD!!

104. I thought that announcement would have come seconds after the verdict! Now who's that weasly, non-stop lying ass, glorified coat-check boy gonna rep? A smart celeb wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole, and not just because of the residual STDs he's acquired over the years of repping that soon-to-be incarcerated cokehead!!!

105. If you cannot be responsible enough to KNOW when your license is suspended (From what I had read she did it at least twice), then you do NOT need to be driving. Also, she failed to go to any alcohol counseling as required by her sentence on the DUI conviction (at least from the news stories I have read). My friend got DUI, he had to go to counseling, he had his license suspended HE asked the LAWYER what that meant. In any case it is your responsiblity to know what it means, she could also have called ANY police station, DMV office, etc and asked them what her license status was. She supposedly asked a publicist. Sorry, if you are too snobby to lower yourself to call these people like the rest of the world does, you earned your jail time. Just because you are rich and snobby does not get you off the hook. At least...not this time.
