Elliot Mintz No Longer on Paris Patrol

Just two days after a judge sentenced her to 45 days in jail for violating her probation, Paris Hilton's longtime publicist Elliot Mintz has announced he is no longer representing the heiress. In court Friday, Paris claimed that it was Elliot who had mistakenly assured her she was able to drive, even though she had a suspended license. The judge, however, didn't buy her claim, and sent her to the slammer.

TMZ contacted Mintz Sunday evening, who issued the following statement:

The day after the hearing, I sent an e-mail expressing my sadness over the ruling of the judge and the irrational sentence he imposed. In that e-mail I also offered my sincerest apology for any misunderstanding she received from me regarding the terms of her probation. To the extent that I have miscommunicated information I received from her attorneys......I am deeply and profoundly sorry. I told her that I assume personal responsibility for my part in this matter. I believe when stated in court that she believed it was o.k. for her to drive under certain circumstances she was being absolutely truthful. Due to this misunderstanding, I am no longer representing Paris. For the record, I have nothing but love and respect for Paris and her family. Paris is a wonderful person and does not deserve the punishment that was handed down by the court. I only wish her my best.

76. I knew they'd try to make him the fall guy -- If she's too stupid to read the terms of her OWN probation, she's too stupid to be driving on the roads of Southern California.

77. I guess this answers the question, "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"
Then again a finger painting toddler has this ho beat.

78. Maybe now that he doesn't represent her, the DA can offer Mintz immunity from perjury changes and he can testify truthfully about how he was paid to take the fall for her. when her lie doesn't work, she fires him. He should be glad, it must get tiring making excuses for someone all the time.

79. Didn't Paris take her DMV writen test . It states if you do not pass the intoxication test or refuse to take one it is an immediate revocation of your drivers license for 30 days. Also if you are convicted of DWI. Frist conviction is Manatory revocation of your drivers license for one year. So Paris is just being treated like any oes else who is convicted of DWI. If Paris would have taken her program and shown more respect for authority the Judge may have not been so harsh! A lack of respect will only cause you more grief!

80. Did she get stopped the second time driving back from Tower Records at 10:00pm. How is that driving for work? Her CD had already circled the bowl long before that.

WITH ALL THE PARTIES SHE HAS TO ATTEND, HOW IS SHE SUPPOSED TO KNOW ALL THAT??? WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO THESE DAYS WITHOUT A BRAIN IN HER HEAD??? BESIDE'S THOSE RULES ARE FOR THE RIFF RAFF, NOT A CELEBRITY LIKE ME.

83. Unreal. As we normal folks are told all the time, ignorance of the law doesn't excuse you. Paris needs to use her pickled brain for something other than porn n parties.

84. I do not believe Paris should have gotten a sentence that harsh, however she is WRONG to fire her publisist. Not his fault Paris, but I guess you and your family had to blame someone.

Admit you messed up, take responsibility and move on. You are not the worst person in the world. But firing Mintz----also too harsh!

85. If ignorance is bliss, then Paris Hilton found nirvana. Remember Paris, in Hollywood, "negative" publicity = cash.

86. One persons observations--

Mr Mintz was at one time a reasonable example of a human being-see the John Lennon period. Why he hooked his talents to this brain dead quasi celebrity is beyond me (are you that broke after all these yers Elliot?)

Mr Mintz was obviously "taking one for the team" with us BS court testimony-its unfathomable that Hilton didnt know she was breaking the law. But when you are rich and famous in LA I guess you think your poop dont smell.

Howard Weitzman is the most overated lawyer in LA next to Mark Geragos-she should have hired better counsel.

Maybe Paris can call her friend Joe Francis and get some tips on how to segue from LA party scumbag to jailhouse target.
