Homicide Meeting in Anna Nicole's Death

Anna Nicole SmithFlorida police have looped-in homicide prosecutors in the death Anna Nicole Smith, according to the Miami Herald.

The newspaper reports that officials have confirmed the meeting but wouldn't elaborate.

The paper claims Seminole cops aren't the only ones on the hunt. The police chief in the Bahamas is in South Florida right now, meeting with his counterparts.

As TMZ first reported, Anna's bodyguard, Big Moe, was interviewed by Seminole cops last week. We're told Big Moe told the cops that Howard K. Stern had given Anna drugs during the last months of her life.

Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper announced last week he was delaying his autopsy findings because of two new pieces of evidence, though he was not specific. The cops are now exploring where that evidence leads.

UPDATE: Although officials have now acknowledged there have been meetings, they say no homicide investigation has been launched.

62. Why has it taken so long to proceed with homicide investigations? Howard K. stern should be answering a great deal of questions now from law enforcement. and Daniel's death should be investigated too. These two deaths are just two convenient. Hey Howie, how do you like the idea of the slammer?

63. As much as I would like to see Howard arrest for Anna's death, I don't believe its going to happen. I do believe that Perper is in the pocket of HS camp. When he taped the morgue for "Insider". It was the same day as he made his dayview with all the tv channel regarding the delay in death report. It seems ev eryone that has contact with HS becomes corrupt.

67. Kim, No. 53, if you don't give a sh*t, as you said, why do you keep reading articles about Anna and taking the time to write? Something tells me your contributions to society don't stack up very high, either.

68. Yeah - nice spin TMZ. Check out the REAL facts on miamiherald.com. TMZ has completely misrepresented what the miami herald and the authorities have actually said. Check out this article. they didn't say it was a homicide investigation. quite the opposite. just a reminder that TMZ is NOT a reliable source of info.

Prosecutors consulted in Smith case

Seminole police have met with homicide prosecutors in the state attorney's office to discuss the death of Anna Nicole Smith, The Miami Herald has learned.

Officials confirmed the meeting, held Tuesday, but would say nothing more about the nature of their discussions.

''Yes, prosecutors met with Seminole police. They're continuing with their investigation of Anna Nicole Smith's death,'' said Broward chief assistant state attorney Chuck Morton, offering no other details. Seminole Police Captain Robert McDaniel cautioned against making conclusions about meeting with homicide investigations since there is still no evidence of foul play in the case.

''Those [homicide prosecuters] are the people, [that] if you were doing a death investigation and needed to speak with someone from the State Attorney's office, you would go to,'' said McDaniel.

``We have never had any indication of foul play. There is nothing that we have uncovered that would lead us in that direction.''

In addition, the commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force is now in South Florida, meeting with the Seminoles on Smith's death, authorities said today.

''Our police chief is over there now with some of our investigators,'' Reginald Ferguson, the assistant commissioner of police for crimes, told The Miami Herald.

Ferguson said given that Smith resided in the Bahamas at the time of her mysterious death, Bahamian authorities have a mutual interest in the case.

Ferguson said Bahamian Police Commissioner Paul Farquharson was meeting with the Seminoles about the case.

It was not known what is being discussed, but last week, it was revealed that the Seminole police had two new pieces of evidence in the case that they wanted to explore, thus holding up the medical examiner's final report on the case.

Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper has yet to announce what caused Smith's death Feb. 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

In his investigation into Smith's death, Perper has spoken with people who had contact with the 39-year-old Smith in the days leading up to her death.

Initial autopsy reports have shown Smith was not a victim of foul play, and Perper said no drugs were found in her system.

The FBI is not involved in any aspect of the Anna Nicole Smith death, spokeswoman Judy Orihuela said today. Neither has any members of the bureau met with anyone from the Bahamas, Orihuela said.

If a warrant would be requested, it could be through either federal or state authorities, she added.

''They [Seminole police] could go any way they wanted,'' Orihuela said.Smith's death set off a three-week fight in a Broward court over where her body would be buried and who fathered her infant daughter, Dannielynn.

After an appeals court ruling and emergency filings in a Bahamas court, Smith was buried March 2 in Nassau beside her son Daniel, who died in September of a drug overdose.

72. Howie had been feeding her drugs for so long he didn't even think anything was wrong with it!

You guys are just way too hard on Howie! He loved Anna so much that he just gave her those drugs so she could 'live' and he's just a lawyer and he didn't know that those drugs could actually 'kill' her...until it was to late.
