Stallone Charged with Importing Steroids Down Under

StalloneJust moments ago, Sylvester Stallone was officially charged with illegally importing performance and image enhancing drugs in a Sydney courtroom, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

According to Australian authorities, the 60-year-old action star, who did not appear in court, was caught at Sydney Airport with several vials of a steroid known as hGH (human growth hormone), during a random baggage check. Customs officials claim they found a total of 48 vials of the steroid after they raided Stallone's Sydney hotel room, limousine and private jet.

Stallone will be required to enter a plea on April 24. If found guilty, he faces a maximum fine of $22,000 Austrailian.

According to steroid.com, "Bodybuilders may illicitly self-administer hGH to improve size and strength, usually by subcutaneous injection into the lower abdomen." HGH has also "become a popular but expensive medication prescribed in anti-aging therapies."

Stallone was visiting Australia in February to promote his latest film "Rocky Balboa. Calls to Sly's rep were not immediately returned.

Reps for Stallone had no comment.

31. Steroids are NOT deadly when taken correctly. Thousands of bodybuilders have been doing them for years WITHOUT any harmful effects. This IS documented. As for Sly. Give him a break. Who wants to get old? Let alone look old.

33. HOW PATHETIC ! Just goes to show these vain Hollywood "celebrities" will do whatever it takes to hold onto their youth. That was proven when he unsuccessfully tried to make a comeback with his latest Rocky movie. It bombed. Do America a favor, Sly, and go away quietly with all of your millions. Believe me, no one will notice you're gone.

34. It will be great to see his mother comment on this, she is a riot when she starts rambling.

35. People have been using Hgh for year's. They inject themselves.
It is called, "The Fountain of Youth"
because as we age our Hgh levels decline and the aging process continues.

Here in the state's, Hgh is very controversial.
People buy it, usually out side the state's and bring it back here.

The man (can't remember his name or where he live's) who started it, is VERY WEALTHY!!!!!!!!!!!

36. My heart goes out to Sly and his family. He is a father of an autistic son, and raising a child with autism is hard (it's very rewarding and fun as well), but in the long run, between the worry and the therapies, it's alot of work, even for a celebrity.

As a mom of an autistic son, like Sly, I can totally understand why he would use a little help in staying healthy and looking young. It's not so much a shortcut for him, as it probably is his only way to look half way decent and continue to provide for his family.

Please give him a little bit of a break.

37. Wonder if he thought it would make his pecker grow?
I saw him in Italian Stallion in the early 80's & he had a teeny weenie.
Seriously...

38. Let's not act like our gov't and convict Stallone already. Our gov't already rountinely violates our rights.
They violate the 1st Amendment by caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Wiki.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
The violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Give Rocky a fair trial in Oz.

39. This does not surprise me at all. Stallone has always been a self serving and arrogant man who would do whatever he wanted no matter what the rules of the game are. Anyone who has worked with him for any length of time will tell you that, as nice as he may be in some situations, he's also a severely vain man without a conscience for the things he desires. This is a man who does stuff because he can get away with it. Maybe this time he won't. Sadly, he fails to see how much hurt his selfishness has caused others, including current and former family members. He's a me-me-me junkie and needs to get to a Life Lkills rehab before he dies from vanity.

40. Hey LoLo in Co: I know where you are coming from but you are severely misinformed about this man. Stallone hid his son's autism for many, many years and the only reason the public knows is due to others bringing it to the attention of the public. Autism was not supposed to come into the lives of people like him, so Sage Moonblood Stallone became something to hide. He still ignores the potential good he could do to help other parents and I attribute that to his many, many years of hiding the boy, ignoring the boy's mothers needs for the father to help in raising him and Stallone's overall shame of having an autistic child. I tell you this because I knew of him in the early years up to when his head swelled with success and because I, myself, have a child with autism .

Between Stallone and Travolta and their public roles as parents of autistic an autistic child , Travolta is the lesser of the two evils but not by a long shot. Toni Braxton is the clear winner in humility and grace as an advocate for parents like herself who lovingly carry the challange of having an autistic child every day and don't run from the public in shame.

41. Its his body, let him do what he wants. I think he looks great to be 60.

As long as he is not passing these drugs on the street, why do we care?

His movies have always been very inspirational. Give the old-man a break.

44. As Jeff and Dr. Love commented above, human growth hormone is not a steroid. Growth hormone has a very different chemical structure and origin than steroid hormones.
