Jessica Yanks Her Song from Kennedy Honors

Jessica Simpson gets removed from the showJessica Simpson gave a less than stellar performance in tribute to her idol, Dolly Parton, at this month's Kennedy Center Honors, flubbing the words to "9 to 5."

Simpson says her nerves got the best of her during the star-studded D.C. event, resulting in her fouling up the song. After the show, an upset Jess was given a second chance to sing it -- with the results apparently unsatisfactory. Simpson has now had the flopped number completely cut from the telecast.

As TMZ first reported, Mama Simpson gave Jessica a verbal bitchslap as she exited the stage during the live show.

Simpson's rep, Cindi Berger, said in a statement, "She really wasn't happy with her performance and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes."

As for the Kennedy Center, the producer of the show said, "We appreciate the time and energy Ms. Simpson put into this event, and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors."

46. I was looking forward to seeing Jessica live on tv. Very unfortunate she will not be on. Without Jessica the show will be extremely boring. They will lose viewers. Jessica did have a good yr. She dumped her ex. He was notta before Jessica.

47. Everyone's a critic. I doubt if the most critical can even carry a tune in a bucket. The gramatical errors remind me of Jay Leno's Jaywalking where people show their ignorance, here they just show it in an attempt to write! If you don't like her, don't watch. And don't criticize her until you have a chance to walk in her shoes. She has to have something to get as far as she has in the business.

51. So quick to judge when your not in that person's shoes. So easy to put someone down who you've never even met & don't even know. Jessica does have something very special about her that is very different from the Britney's or the Christina's. She is and always has been a very hard worker & no one could ever change my mind on how much I like Jessica Simpson. I would give anything if I could sing like her!

54. High standards my ass! Jessica is so dumb, she couldn't learn the words to the song, even when they held up que cards for her to refer to if she forgot a line. What a dumbass! I have no idea why her or her sister are still be peddled in front of us as celebrities. I for one, wish those two NO TALENT, plastic surgery junkies would just go away.

55. There are some show biz couples who each bring a talent to the relationship.
Burns and Allen
Lucy and Ricky
Stiller and Meara
These are a few of the truly talented combinations... Standing alone each of these performers could do well, (especially Siller and Meara and George Burns)
but it is the two together that made them a stand out.

Jessica and Nick Lachey had magic together on screen that they obviously lacked at home, so they split up. Brilliant.
They were too stupid to realize that the only reason America found her charming is her relationship with HIM...
Now he has gone on to "what?" NO FAME or fortune. His only hope is to get an acting gig, singing is out.
Jessica also needs to take acting lessons, singing is out for her and unless she fires her Papa and gets some real guidance, she is Yesterday's News.
Did anyone see Laura Bush's and Dolly Parton's expressions while Jessica was singing?
Priceless.
If I were Jessica I'd take a long vacation and come back without the blonde hair, boobs, & high heels. Take some acting lessons and get a small character role in a major film. do the hard work, go to NY and do a play or something. Then we'll see.
