Jessica Yanks Her Song from Kennedy Honors

Jessica Simpson gets removed from the show Jessica Simpson gave a less than stellar performance in tribute to her idol, Dolly Parton, at this month's Kennedy Center Honors, flubbing the words to "9 to 5."

Simpson says her nerves got the best of her during the star-studded D.C. event, resulting in her fouling up the song. After the show, an upset Jess was given a second chance to sing it -- with the results apparently unsatisfactory. Simpson has now had the flopped number completely cut from the telecast.

As TMZ first reported, Mama Simpson gave Jessica a verbal bitchslap as she exited the stage during the live show.

Simpson's rep, Cindi Berger, said in a statement, "She really wasn't happy with her performance and she did want it to be perfect for Dolly, who she idolizes."

As for the Kennedy Center, the producer of the show said, "We appreciate the time and energy Ms. Simpson put into this event, and respect the high standards she has for herself and that of the Kennedy Center Honors."

21. Isn't the Kennedy Center Honors supposed to be prestigious?

Whoever decided that Jessica Simpson should sing a tribute to Dolly Parton should be demoted or fired for their stupidity.

Jessica is a second rate performer who will be remembered as a joke years from now?

23. All I can say is that Jessica is no American Idol. She couldn't remember the lyrics the first time and then couldn't sing it right the second time around. If Dolly was truly her idol she should have done her homework. Maybe they should have picked Kelly Clarkson. Kelly wowed them on the Reba tribute. Enough said..........

29. I Truely feel sorry for her.. With all the Hot Air and Billion Dollar Stench from the bigwigs in that room, its no wonder she messed up! I think both her and Dolly have lots of class, and either one or Both can lay their head on my shoulder(s) anytime...But I'd have to get on my knees probably.. I'm 6'2"... ehh.. hehe... 30. Jessica mother was right! The Kennedy Center awards are prestigious. almost like Carnegie Hall. If she is not gonna get off her butt and rehearse a song for her "idol" then get out to the business. She made a complete ass of herself. She looked more stupid that usual. Why should her mother support that?
