48. You can't control what people choose to do or say. We all have different morals and decide what is acceptable and unacceptable as it pertains to who we are as individuals.

The slur n*gger can't hurt you unless you believe you are.

Kike, Ophe, Spik, Chink, Wet Back are just words. Yes, the intent is hateful, but who cares there hatemongers in the world... deal with it!

50. The word should be banned. It was offensive when it was first created and it is offensive today. For those of you who advocate for the continued usage of a word that symbolizes hatred towards black people around the world and hide under this foolishness under freedom of speech your logic and level of judgement is questionable. There are more worthy causes that need our attention. Banning the word in music, cable , etc. is a good thing for american society which has dehumanized and treated black people as second class citizens for hundreds of years. Why should children or better yet unborn children be exposed to this form of harted and ignorance? Although African American entertainers use the word this doesn't justify the frequency of its usage throughout the media. No other group of people can view the racial slurs that are used to descibe their group in the same context as that that the n-word is used in. The word should be banned because it is time for america to grow as a nation and be the leader of the free world we claim to be. There is a certain level of responsibliy that is lacking in this society. Isn't it a contradiction that racial slurs are used in entertainment but it you use them at work you will be reprimanded or fired. You obviously do not have freedom of speak at work because there are codes of conduct and standards. The same standards and rules should be applicable for entertainers.

The Spanish word "negro" originates from the Latin word "niger", meaning black. In English, "negro" or "neger" became "negar" and finally "nig*er", most likely under influence of French "nègre" (also derived from the Latin niger).

I find the word extremely pejorative and IMO it has no use in society, no matter who is using it. Those who do are using the word as I have seen stated say "we are taking power from the word or the sting out of it" but IMO they are giving others license to use it.

58. This is VERY interesting because when the Michael Richards incident came to light my friends and I remembered back about 15 years ago when we saw Damon Wayans (and Kim) at the Laugh Factory and the whole place walked out on them.

***DAMON WAYANS IS ONE OF THE MOST RACIST PEOPLE ALIVE!!! Hell YEAH his ass should have been banned 15 years ago, along with his sister, Kim.***

First Kim Wayans took the stage and did not tell jokes, but proceeded to talk about how she had come from an REM concert and only went 'cause tickets were free and was "DISGUSTED" by being surrounded by all those WHITE PEOPLE. She went on for 15 minutes of talking about how she "f***ing hates" white people and they make her SICK, etc. She was boed by everyone, including the several groups of black people, and left the stage. (Not telling a joke the whole time.)

Clearly this was a bad night for the Wayans family, as they were going on and on about how they were screwed over with the Living Color deal and it was all do to the "JEWS AND WHITEY", etc.

It should be noted that the owner of the Laugh Factory, Jaime, was out of town that night, so it was a VERY GOOD NIGHT up until that point. Jaime is a creep, the guy who SET UP MICHAEL JACKSON WITH HIS GYPSY FRIENDS. He's a total con artist and ripoff. When he is around, the shows are never as good as when he's NOT. The comedians are more relaxed, the flow is better, et cetera. (Yes, we are somewhat comedy show conniseures. :) )

Damon Wayans then took the stage (he was a surprise act) and we were all excited and applauding like crazy, et cetera. He proceeded to NOT TELL JOKES the rest of the time, going on about how his wife is a dumb bitch for thinking he wouldn't cheat on her, how his son is a "faggot", and then goes off on how he "HATES FAGGOTS AND IS GLAD AIDS IS KILLING THEM". This was shortly after Rodney King and the riots in L.A. as well, and he then proceeded to say how the riots were the best thing that happened to L.A. and he wished they'd "KILLED ALL THE WHITE PEOPLE" and went on and on about how much he "F#CKING HATES WHITE PEOPLE".

He was HORRIBLE/EVIL, and did NOT tell a joke the whole time on stage. (There were a group of us there that night. I wish they had camera phones/video back THEN 'cause I'd have loved to expose his racist, hateful, no talent ass.)

Even the black people in the room were telling him, "You are NOT funny." When people became frustrated and shot out, "Do Homey The Clown", he retorted with an "F#CK YOU!"

It was a very interesting night, as we all walked out, the whole place, on Damon. (Luckily for the club he was the last act, anyway.) NO ONE APOLOGIZED TO US!!! I got into a fight with Kim Wayans outside, our friends pulled us apart.

But to Kim's credit, we saw her a few weeks later and she actually APOLOGIZED PERSONALLY and told great jokes and we were really appreciative and enjoyed her show. They evidently had just gotten some bad news/had a very bad night, the two of them. Everybody has a bad night. We're glad Kim happened to run into us again and actually made amends for what she had done and said that night.

Damon Wayans was over the top hateful, bigoted, and actually incited violence, trying to tell the black people the riots should continue, et cetera et cetera He's clearly a VERY DISTURBED individual.

It's ALSO very coincidental that SINBAD HAPPENED TO BE THERE THE NIGHT OF THE MICHAEL RICHARDS EVENT. I had known Sinbad somewhat from way back, and when the Damon Wayans thing happened, he's actually the first person I talked to. He explained a bit about how their family was screwed over with the show, and how a comedian's bad day can sometimes reflect in their show, etc. He never said, however, (and we LOVE SINBAD TO PIECES/HE IS A GREAT MAN) that we deserved an apology.

This racism and hatred, on EVERYONE'S parts, has to STOP. We are so uncivilized and ignorant in this country, it's not even funny. This would never happen in the UK. We call ourselves a melting pot but everyone is so full of fear and hatred for eachother.

THAT INCLUDES REVERSE DISCRIMINATION. If Michael Richards cannot attack hecklers than neither should black comedians (Damon Wayans) constantly attack white people (and Jewish and homosexual).

DAMON WAYANS STILL OWES **US** A FREAKIN' APOLOGY, and it's clear he still has not cleaned up his act.

I can only hope his wife finally left him. I wouldn't know. I couldn't follow the career of a LOW LIFE like that.

LAUGH FACTORY, COMEDY STORE, et cetera should all ***BAN DAMON WAYANS***!!!

60. I am getting so sick and tired of listening to a bunch of cry-babies. Come on! Enough is enough, if you don't like what someone says don't socialize or contibute to that person anymore, but to start or should I say continue to censor peoples speech is wrong. Don't use that word its only for black people, or you can't get angry and call someone a name it might hurt there feelings. Well words are better than fists, knives, or bullets. The whole idea when someone is mad is to attack or flee it is insinctive and yes irrational. You don't make a big deal over kids calling each oter names on the play ground. Or maybe they do now. It seems everyone wants everyone else to be a bunch of castrated andrgenous whimps. Like the French. After all it is your choice to listen.
